Tiona Marco (My Student)

Working with crayons on paper, Tiona Marco creates fine artwork portraying wildlife, portraits, places and objects in the contemporary realism genre. With a degree from the Minneapolis College of Art & Design, she taught art and English in Guadalajara, Mexico in 2006 to Mexican elementary children. This venture left her with few resources to pursue her own art interests, but she had ready access to most everyone's first art instrument, the crayon. She pursued the potential for fine art with only crayon and paper in hand, but much inspiration driving them.

Upon her return to the States, she serendipitously met up with the master of the crayon medium , Don Marco. Tiona was impressed by his mastery of the unusual fine art medium, and Don saw reason to commit himself to mentoring the young prodigy who had independently discovered the potential for crayon. After a rigorous year working and studying as an apprentice with Don, Tiona established her own studio in Superior, Wisconsin.

Tiona now sells giclee prints and original drawings online, through individual stores and from her studio. As a tribute to her eighty year old master teacher and friend, she works under the artist name Tiona Marco; the name combines her name, family names, and teacher name.
