You are incredible. When I showed some of your work to my brother, he couldn't even BELIEVE it was done with Crayons. I mean, don't get me wrong, I DO believe it, but... it's just incredible. You are a phenomenally talented artist.
Marco says:
Good morning Jason, many thanks to you and your brother. There are many people that do not believe it's crayon. To me, it is a compliment. Thanks again.

Your work is Amazing!!! What a gift you have!! My question is, wouldn't the drawings melt if hot lights were shining on them? Thanks for your time. Ruth Anne from PA
Marco says:
Good morning Ruth Anne, thank you so much. To answer your question, the hot lights would cause the parafin content to soften and be absorbed by the construction paper and actuately create a slight impression of the image on the reverse side.
Randy
says:
Good Day Don, Thanks for your art and for your website. I just recently started sketching again after almost 10 years without drawing anything. I soon realized the limitations of using only pen for drawing, and would like to start adding some colour, and perhaps also try sketching using crayon instead of ink. You mentioned in one comment that Jeffrey Robert ("The Crayola Artist") is your "son"? Is that literally or figuratively true? You also asked to be notified if someone came across any art instruction books that detailed the kind of technique you use. I came across one a while ago, it is called "Amazing Crayon Drawing With Lee Hammond: Create Lifelike Portraits, Pets, Landscapes and More" and is available on Amazon here: http://goo.gl/DVzGb This author recommends using a grid in order to get proportions right when making the initial drawing. I tried that and found it was not a very "natural" way to draw, spending so much time drawing a grid, etc. I am presuming that you don't use that technique but just have a good eye for proportion after years of drawing? I've been practising my own sketching by making myself draw almost all of the photos in old National Geographic magazines. Do you have any tips for learning to draw more realistically/proportionally accurate other than practise, practise, practise? Thanks so much for your time. From Randy, Alberta, Canada
Marco says:
Hi Randy, Lee Hammond, despite what she says, has learned from others. The grid is one of many ways to help put down things correctly. Study angles, exact spacing, etc. It will all come together with practice and a good eye helps also. Jeff IS my son. Thanks so much for your interest and keep drawing. Basic 'how to draw' can also help.

Hello Mr Marco, First off I would like to say that your art is some of the best I have ever seen. As an amateur, I've experimented with many mediums over the last 6 months and crayons are hands down the hardest to work with. Thanks to your gallery, I was inspired to buy a pack of 24 crayola crayons to start me off. Unfortunately, the body heat method does not work for me when blending, but I will try other methods. Clearly you're the innovator, and you deserve to go down in history as one of the all time greats for your innovation.
Marco says:
Thank you David. Tip: soft and gentle.
alexus
says:
i love your work and i am doing a school project on you so i was wondering what art books did you read while creating your technique
Marco says:
Hi Alexus, my technique to ceate fine art was developed by trial and error. If you know where there is a book explaining it let me know.It is important to remember solutions to problems as they are discovered and the sequence of the solution.Good luck with your progress.
Yani
says:
i am in 9th graded and i am doing a informative report on you.I was wondering if you studied art or art books on your own while creating your technique;if so which books?
Marco says:
Hi Yani, recieving two inqueries the same tends to tell me you and Alexus are in the same class. My answer to you is the same as to Alexus. I would add that it is important to constantly take notes and not rely on memory. Thanks and good luck.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DRINKING?
Abe
says:
Nice work, Don! I've read some of the FAQ. The main question I have is: Is there fading or bloom, etc after, say 10 years or more (or less) I did see your comment relating to rings and carpet that fade but don't think the materials are the same, or in the same location or serve the same purpose. Thank you. Regards -Lee-
Marco says:
Hi Lee, Over the years the only fading problem has been with direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure to bright light might also be a problem. Sorry to have taken this long to get back to you.

Hi! I just want to say what an amazing artist you are!! I do watercolors, and I appreciate your art form. I never realized that crayons could do that!! I first heard of you from an email that my Mom sent me. I had no idea! In the email there was a picture of Christ. It is the most wonderful portrait of Christ that I have ever seen. I do not see it on your website, I would like to know if it was for sale? I would love to have it!!!
Marco says:
Hi Tracy, I don't have any idea of the picture you are refering to. E-mail me a copy.
